Yes, it does exist. A tiny island between east midtown Manhattan and Queens indeed does exist. This tiny island was where I stayed when I first moved to New York City (Only for a couple weeks in order to find an apartment, which I then moved to the Lower East Side).
The island is quite and spacious. Plenty of apartments on the island, a grocery store, and a couple restaurants in order to feel like it's a part of the city (but technically your not).
There are only 3 ways to get to the island. A bridge to drive over, the F line to take the train under, or take the tram to fly over.
Exploring the island was only half the fun, my boyfriend and I are considering this as our next place to live...just thinking though.
